With regards to this I was just telling a friend of mine that when it comes to methods, just look at as many as you want and pick out the things that will work for you/you'll be most comfortable in using (to start with at least).
Also where you said "I have to be myself which I feel is AFC", that's all in your head, being yourself is the best thing you can do, you just have to adapt yourself conveying your good qualities more often. As well as working on things that will improve your self-esteem, so for example if you are unhappy with your body? exercise more, unhappy with your job? start searching for a new one, want to drink less? take steps to start cutting down. If you do things that make you more confident about yourself, that will come across in your interactions with people.
