When you're driving, er, when you're a GOOD driver, you're constantly aware of EVERYTHING going on around you.

My wife comments all the time on how I seem to know what a driver is going to do before they do it, and I'm prepared for it because of that. How I see what's happening, even if my eyes are looking straight ahead.

You have to be constantly aware of the big stuff, AND the little stuff going on around you at all times, otherwise you may not make it out of the end of your driveway.

Well, it's the same thing with PU. You HAVE to be aware of the big stuff, but especially the little stuff that's going on around you ALL the time. For instance, things like body language will tell you a LOT, and you can be prepared for the words that are about to spill forth from that HB's mouth, if you watch her body language. You can also direct the course of the interaction if you know what's going on in her mind, by paying attention to the little things in the interaction.

So, KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN AND YOUR MIND ALERT.

This is a very good analogy. I find that my game is at a point where once there is a vibe, I can make things up on the fly and respond instantaneously. However, I still need to plan things out, to see the traffic ahead in the conversation, so that I can better guide the flow and course of the conversation.

P.S. But what if you doing PU while driving?
