Being on a PUA forum makes us all sound like losers lol. No matter what, the majority of people are going to think something is weird with you, whether you call chicks HB's or just decide to improve your dating life. What's the distinction?

Some of the terms are weird, but most are to quickly convey a point in a niche community. It's not meant for "outsiders" to understand or agree with the terminology....Thats the same with any niche. If you're in fitness, you may say you're doing a "dirty bulk" and fitness heads know what you mean. People who dont bulk arent going to know and will find it weird. On Wall Street, you refer to a guy at the firm as "the Big swinging dick" and laugh at the "pikers." EVERY niche community has terms that are weird to people not in the community. But it is what it is.

My only issue with the terminology is if you take it too seriously. Like if you tell me a chick is a 9, well that's just you communicating how attractive she was. If you have a bunch of different rules and strategies for dealing with an 8 , a 8.5 and a 9, then thats too far. The terminology is always going to be different, I think the only prob is if you actually take it past communicating a point.

Generally speaking, I've not got much of a problem with numbers being used. It's the futile "HB" at the start that serves no purpose other than to make it sound a little cheesier. Also "sarging" and "target" are just vile terms, lol.

The dirty bulk part was actually a good point... hadn't thought of it like that. I suppose "I do good mornings to warm up for my madcow 5x5 workout" or whatever sounds kinda stupid too, lol.

I just, I don't know.. I guess Majikal nailed what I was trying to say with the video game thing. That's how it feels; like they're talking about unlocking something in a Harry Potter game.

I can understand shortening to something such as LMR, or using "9" to explain how attractive you find somebody (it's a language that everybody understands, once you realise that she's only a 9 in your eyes and it communicates how attractive you find her, not how attractive she actually is) but I seriously cannot keep a straight face when I read"infield", "lay report", "sarging", "lair" etc being thrown around like they're just ok things to say

A girl I'm seeing at the moment knows a little about pickup etc, and we actually joke about it a lot. She'll often accuse me of negging or peacocking, and once said something about a lay report after sex. Lol.

So it's a bit of silly slang. So what? Half of pickup is going against the norm and not caring if some random person thinks it's weird. Cold approach as a concept is very weird. If you are afraid of it that much, ditch pickup.

You're defending these words like you consider it impossible to pick up girls without it. Also you're talking about "pickup" like it's not something that every human being on the planet does. The only difference is that their "saying hello to a girl and her friend" is your "infield direct DHV opener on a HB9 & HB7 2 set" ...see? It sounds like a much bigger deal.

Try letting go of some of the terms. If not for the cringe factor, then for how much pressure they add. When "saying hello to that girl over there" becomes "opening that HB8 for my first infield cold approach" then it feels like something much bigger than it is.

I didn't even imply that I was afraid of anything, let alone say it.

It doesn't put more pressure on me or anyone for that matter. I don't use the 1-10 scale. I have explained why before. I don't think anybody is a loser if they do. Get over yourself.

Since the start of the thread, you've been looking for an argument.

Telling me to get over myself because I don't agree with you, is insanely ironic. Surely you're joking.

I don't understand what it is that makes terms like "sarging" and "hired gun" so important to you, that you've made it your responsibility to fight for them.

Are you this hostile with women? I hope not

Pretty much all that you said there is not what I posted. Making something up and creating a nonexistent hostile tone is a good way to dismiss people though I guess. Have fun pretending to be Don draper.

Always did think you were strange. This confirms it.

Enjoy your sarging etc..

lol sorry I sounded a lot more of a dick there than I meant to. I read it back in the tone that you probably did, and it wasn't the intended tone.

Its funny you say that. If Im remembering correctly, Mystery stated that the use of the terminology was to actually reduce pressure. By using these absurd terms and seeing the whole process as a game, you take the pressure off. Thats how I learnt it and always saw it. Silly terms so you arent serious about it or hung up on it. Kinda like Barney from How I met your mother. Sure he has complicated rules, diagrams and special names for situations with women, but he's having fun with it and taking it less seriously than other guys.

Interesting. I suppose it's just a matter of how individuals view it. I just personally think it's cringe worthy and makes it too serious. I can see how it'd do the opposite to others now that you've said it, though. I didn't think of it like that.

Yeah jd...I agree with you that it shouldn't be taken seriously. That's cringeworthy. Even djz... I know you 2 are prob closer than you may think as he is against taking these things super seriously and letting them define you.

A lot of the Terminology is aimed at geeks I thought, explaining concepts easily. I still find 'escalation' cringeworthy. Johnny Soporno went on the record saying PUA's are glorified, sexual predators. It's somewhat agreeable. Anyone learning this stuff is questionable from the get go. Name one PU Guru that is actually respectable outside of dating.
