I went out to two clubs and only opened two sets. Both were on the dance floor and I muttered something along the lines of "how's it going." The woman replied VERY unexpectedly... "good." I was screwed at this point.
I do very well with women once I am able to get into a conversation. In fact, I would say that my day game is far better than my club game. My question is, what the hell do I do to gain confidence when opening sets in clubs? I seem to always hesitate even if I'm getting looks. When I do approach it seems to come off with a lack of confidence. How do I get over this fear and approach with enthusiasm? Are there any club practice routines that you can think of just to battle this fear?

If I am dancing and some girls comes up to me to talk, I will end the conversation really quickly (I get into it and don't want to be disturbed). Girls like the way I dance so that's how I attract them on the dance floor, and that's how it should be. I hate guys standing on the dance floor like wall flowers. Dance floors were made to dance, not to stand around and talk to girls. Girls on the dance floor want to have fun, not talk to guys.

As a general rule I dont try to open dancing girls, they dont want to talk to a random guy unless possibly he is very high energy, a lot of fun and seriously socially proofed, or else Brad Pitt.
Secondly, to answer your question about getting in state and not being nervous, try this. Open as many people as you can while walking to the club with simple questions such as "do you have the time" or "have you got a light" and then try and transition the conversation to something else.
