I think the problem possibly lies in being too outcome-dependant, putting too much pressure on yourself, instead of starting from a fundamental level and working your way up.

For those battling Approach Anxiety... you have two problems:

1. Externally Validated Value Systems.

You are assuming that the women you are approaching have higher value than you do.

Let go of that, become a high-value guy... understand that women WANT TO BE WITH YOU!

2. Outcome-Dependency

You are attached to the outcome of the interaction, my suggestion for battling this is the following: (in order)

- Approach, ask for directions, exit.
- Approach, ask for directions, ask name, exit.
- Approach, ask for directions, ask name, ask profession, exit.
- Approach, ask for directions, ask name, ask profession, ask zodiac, make assumption on zodiac, verify/disqualify assumption, exit.
- Approach, ask for directions, ask name, ask profession, ask zodiac, make assumption on zodiac, verify/disqualify assumption... (by this point you should have talked to enough girls where you can start introducing openers here)...

Eventually this will lead to...

- Approach, establish entitlement, build rapport, escalate, time-bridge, close.
