I'm a chemical engineering student, and I was wondering if this could be attractive if I presented it the right way or if it's "too nerdy" and I should just keep silent about it if I can. I live on a college campus, if that's helpful at all. Any advice on how to spin this properly is greatly appreciated

Dude.. Anything you are passionate about and dedicated to is attractive to anyone. You should never ever feel a need to hide anything about yourself because of what others would think.

Are you concerned about hiding it from male friends, and male students? No? Then you are putting women on a pedastol by treating them "special", which is the foundation that will harm your future success with them. They're humans..

As joeyskillz said. dude I have way nerdier shit going on my life and women dig it. The only thing I would say is, you gotta have some balance. If you are nerdy in every respect then it might be a turn off, not because nerdy is a turnoff, but because one dimensionality is a turn off. But in terms of being in a nerdy field being a turn off, fuck no man, if anything, girls will think you are smart. Being smart = cool. Being smart stopped being a bad thing at age 15.

I agree with TheFury being smart = cool. I was also an engineering student at one time (graduated now) and 9 times out of ten when a girl asked what I went to school for there response was "wow so you must be pretty smart" Engineers are often seen as smart, successful people, its a great way to DHV.

Work it to your advantage. Demonstrate value using your skill set.

Show them something interesting that they've never seen before in regards to your field - something in chemistry that you can perform with everyday items (so you can do it virtually anywhere at anytime). For example, "mentos in a coke bottle." Just make it something less messy and more unknown.
