Hey everyone,

I know this an odd question but here goes:

Learning "Pick Up" has helped me find my current girlfriend = success.

Is there something similar that teaches the social skills needed for work place politics (not for seduction) for career success ? I.e. for successfully navigating the political minefield of politics in the workplace.

As an analogy, we all learned early on in our pick up reading that being the nice, friendly, harmless guy will in most cases put you in the front zone. While this is basic knowledge for a PUA, it may be a revelation for a beginner (at least it was for me).

Is there something similar to help navigate the political minefield in the workplace for career success (not picking up woman)? The reason I bring it up in this forum is because so much of pick up game is about social skills and psychology - and I wanted to if there some kind of "system" that could help in work place success; a "work place artist" so to speak.... that cuts across most/all professions and teaches the fundamental work place social skills; just like a PUA learns the fundamental social pick up skills to not be the harmless guy.

I'm not looking for responses like "go read the HR employee handbook" or read "7 Habits of Highly Successful People". Instead, I'm looking for perhaps a system or process (ala mystery system) or tactics for work place politics and relationships.

Any and all suggestions welcome!

Thanks!

Yes. A lot of things carry over. Appearance. Looking good and being well spoken will help you project an image of success. Good posture too.

Demonstrating high value helps too. It makes you seem like you are smart and knowledgeable and a valuable asset to the company. You can even AMOG and DLV other people to make yourself seem smarter or better than them, thus increasing your value. Knowing the bossess and higher-ups makes you more "social proof" in the eyes of everyone you work with.

Thanks! That makes a lot of sense! Do you know of any literature that directly addresses the subject?

You probably want to read the 48 Laws of Power.
