So you open a girl, you introduce yourself. You're making eye contact. You can feel the conversation dropping, and the awkwardness setting in. You really don't want to go in to the usual small talk, the usual "What do you do?" "Where do you come from?" etc.

So what do you do?

You use exactly that, but you word it so that you acknowledge yourself doing it, and that other guys may of done that to her previously asking the usual boring questions. So in a way you're making fun of the other guys who have done it. You're a smart guy; you know that bar talk is boring.

You - "I guess this is where we ask the usual bar questions?"

Her - "Haha, I guess"

You - "What are they? I always get the usual." "Do you study?" "What do you do?" "Do you come here a lot?" "If you could be any dinosaur which dinosaur would you be?" "Where are you from?"

Her - "Haha, dinosaur? but yeah it's always the case. It's so boring"

You - "I know, I'm glad you're not asking them questions as I'd of walked away due to boredom."

You - "But come on, I want to know the answers now. May as well get it out of the way."

Conversational question

She'll usually answer them; you can remind her of the usual questions. And also add in the dinosaur one she'll usually miss it out.

"And what about which dinosaur you want to be?"

The beauty with this question is. You can make your question a topic which you know a lot about, which could lead you to a DHV story. For example maybe something like, if you speak fluent Italian

"Do you speak fluent Italian?"

You - "So, DO you speak fluent Italian?"

Her- "Ha, no! Do you seriously get asked that all the time?"

You - Reply in Italian

You'll then no doubt get talking about how you know Italian and general conversation.

That question can be changed to whatever you want. Just use something odd, to catch her off guard, make her laugh. Here are some suggestions

"Who's your favourite member of west life?"

"At what age did you lose your virginity?"

"Are you a spender or a saver?"

"Do you believe in the death penalty? Why or why not?"

You get the point, just something quirky, funny and to make her think a little. With the question such as the spender, of death penalty you can actually go in to conversation about that, tease her with her answers. I tend to always disagree with what they say.
Whatever the question is, pick a topic you know a lot about or have some points to make about it in mind. So you're able to get the conversation flowing and it won't go dead.

Her - "I'm a saver, probably"

You - "I knew it. I guess you're one who doesn't really like to live in the now, nor spontaneous...saving for a rainy day huh? We probably won't get a long, I'm a big believer with going with the flow and living life and following my instinct)

This reply is good, it will make her BE spontaneous, make her live in the now. Also if you end up taking her home and you're hitting a bit of LMR (Last minute resistance) you can then bring it back up about her "not living in the now" etc.

Her - "I'm definitely a spender"

You - "I'll have a vodka and coke then please" or "Looks like you're getting the first round then"

Or

You - "You do seem a little careless, a bit of a free spirit at heart. I guess you will never let finances get in the way of truly living life to its fullest. Which means, you sound like trouble" Say the last bit with a slight smile, and look her deep in the eyes.

Have fun with this, it doesn't take much to implement it or long to learn. We all know the usual questions and bar talk, and so does she. Acknowledge it. The last question, the conversational question is which will get the conversation flowing. The last question is sneaky. You can find any subject you know a lot about, or you enjoy talking about and get talking about it without it sounding strange asking her.
