I read an article PU lines don't work on women. The if I could arrange the alphabet, or did it hurt when you fell down from heaven will get you nowhere. Women say a simple "Hi" is the best opener there is...then again, if every guy just said hi, you wouldn't stand out. Thoughts?

I think pick up lines used as pick up lines don't work at all.
But if you use a pick up line solely as a joke, it can make for a very good opener.

I've seen this really good opener. You go up to a girl, stand there for a second and pull out a "How to pick up chicks for Dummies" book up and awkwardly flip through it for a few seconds... then with the sliest, sterotypical-PUA voice possible, say something like "Do you come here often?" then wink or smirk at her.

After that, you break the fake routine, and go on to say something like... "If that's not working for you, I'll go with a less dramatic approach... Hi, I'm---"

I've heard this actually works pretty well and gets her laughing immediately.

lol, pick up line do work, its how you use it and when you use it. for me i dont go fancy u know, i just go like hi, i saw u walk by i thought ur cute, so i wanna come by and say hi, and get to know you. there an intro, then u can dhv her etc.

of course pickup lines work...

IF they are delivered in the right way, at the right time, in the right setting, by the right fella.

it's the DELIVERY that matters.

Pick Up lines arnt usually effective as girls have heard them all but they can work, on Keys To The V.I.P a guy opens with "Is your dad a drug dealer??? Because your dope" he got the girls to laugh and successfully opened the group but it was his Delivery that made it work, he said it in a non serious/funny way. You can say almost anything but its all how you say/do it. So for pick up lines personally i'd only do it for a joke being cocky/funny while i said it and using it only to break the ice.

what other things can you say other than hi, what's up, hey how's it going, how are you? I find that extremely boring.

So if Brad Pitt or George Clooney walked up to a girl and delievered this line your saying it wouldnt work. Okay.......They would drop their pants instead for this line.

I know they are celebrities and chosen by millions of women. BUt even for an average looking guy like myself this HAS worked because I know how to transition from the opener and say it in a way that sounds fun.
Women are right. "Hi" is the best opener But did they tell you How to proceed after that? Why not create or Use an opener instead that has a natural transition - in this case even an opinion opener is better than just a 'Hi'. Atleast that gets her talking and "gets you in" to build some kind of a rapport or comfort or attraction.

BY Opening her you have already seperated/differntiated yourself from 70% of the other guys at the bar who have been just staring at her. By transitioning you diff. from another 10%. By making her laugh diff. youself from another 10%. By hodling on a conv. there goes another 5%. By creating a Connection a good rapport you have diff. by 4.99%. And by building trust and taking care of the logistics you are ow in the 0.01% for that night !!

Someone check my math - I just came up with those stats But you get the point - Open with something that would help you transition - even a pick up like is good - KNow what to say next.

That's one of the most retarded things I've ever read on this forum.
