This is odd - I'm talking to a woman I really like (that I've known for a while now) today and out of the blue she asks if my wife likes something (in reference to something we were talking about).

I am not married and I have no idea why she would assume I was as our relationships have never been discussed. She could also easily see that I have no wedding ring on. The vibe to me was that she was maybe digging for information in a subtle way?

What do you guys think?

Well if you never told her you were married and she had no reason to think that you were then she was probing to see if you are.

Would you care if a female you weren't interested in sexually was married? Didn't think so

IOI

Could've been an IOI, could've been a simple shit test. Depends on how she put it.

She just said it naturally in the flow of conversation. It of course lead to talking about our dating experiences lately and a bit of flirting. I really need to move forward with this line the next time I see her.

Well it seems like you answered it like a test, and failed it...
You don't talk about ex's with currents, ex's are like fight club and you failed rule #1. The point is to be mysterious "how many girls have you gone out with?" is not answered with "10" and a story like it seems you did.

Well I didn't tell her my life story and didn't go into much detail about my dates or tell her exactly how many - she did most of the talking. I wanted to make it obvious that I was single and dating. I just said that I had been dating a bit and told her a story about how a hot girl hit on me in a bar recently (which is true). I thought that story might be a DHV but I am really new at this stuff so maybe I blew it - we shall see.

super ioi, ioi on steroids, but you may have messed up for not picking up on it, when girls give you ioi, and you do not pick up on them, they assume you got not game, may be a turn off hard to recover from...

True - I'm kicking myself because there was a LOT more I could've done with it. I was sort of thrown when she made the comment because I didn't have any idea that she might be attracted to me (I've talked to her a bunch of times now). Oh well I should see her again a few times next week.

Everyone here in right in their deduction of it being a sign of interest on her part.

It's actually a pretty common trick, I've used the "So, what does your boyfriend do?" line on a lot of girls, just to check their relationship status.
