To make a very long story short things got derailed and I ended up not closing that night (mostly because she ended up wandering town in the rain while I drove home in her car...)
i must say this part was WAY too short....how did she end up walking in the rain all night and you were in her car driving? i think you left out a huge part here...THOUGH it doesnt look like it matters after the rest of your story.
While I do think you may have been able to do things differently and not thought about your friend at age 8....there is NO reason at all to focus on that...its yesterdays news....throw it away!
If you watch Seinfeld, you may remember the show where the married couple broke up and Jerry called just to say "I'm there for you." --- that may be the angle you have to play for a very short period of time. If she really is upset about things, and if you really are just a friend....you may not be able to pull off your usual lines and tactics without upsetting the relationship created. So, it may be smart to get close to her from the friend angle, and then advance slowly bit by bit.......but dont wait too long. While this is a nice excuse to spend LOTS of time with her right after she broke up with the other guy----its a kiss of death if you are still a friend after a few months.
and ask for this kid you knew when you were 8.....if you DO care about his relationship, you need to stop thinking about this girl (you cant have both)....but if she ranks ahead of this old friend, then he must be put out of mind.
its your choice...but ONE must be done----cant have both!!
which will it be???
hope you can decide which one....GL
Cheers.
