I am in a very difficult situation. There is this schoolprom tonight, and I am selected as one of the nominees for promking. I didn't want this and I have never asked for this but people voted on me. My friends signed me up. Now, I just heard almost all of my friends who voted on me etc aren't attending. Which means I am fucked because the winner will be decided by the one who gets the most noise from the public. A HB I like will be there.

Shall I attend, fail hard on stage and leave or not attend at all? Just when they say my name nobody comes up or will I look like a pussy then? Half of my school will be there, and my WHOLE school (1700 people) have gotten the email that I am in the top 3 nominees. The prom is in three hours. I have just heard I am nominated because some people texted me and I didn't go to school today.

be a man, dont give a shit regardless of the out come. besides just because you may have one minute of embarrassment doesnt mean the rest of the night has to be a failure. make the night your own, i take it this is your last night with this crowd of people ? i went through the same thing and i think youre in the same position i was - shitty friends and let people walk all over you.

I would make a real effort to talk to a lot of people BEFORE they do the announcement and be fun and awesome. If the topic of you being nominated comes up, don't make it a big deal, be like "oh yeah, I didn't even realise people had put me up for it, I guess my friends did it randomly and I got a bunch of votes."

When you go up on stage, be confident and calm, and now is the time to smile, point and wave to all the people you know and have spoken to over the course of the evening. That way, when they read your name out, you're actually putting social pressure on them to applaud.

Alright guys, here is how it went.
Being a nominee is fucking awesome! Everybody recognizes you. iois everywhere you look. People opening on you. I just went up that stage and owned it, like you guys said. I didnt win, but some other cool guy from 6th class (oldest) didnt win aswell. But that was cool. I even number closed the girl i like. Thank you guys for telling me to go if you didnt i wouldt for sure!
