So tonight I 'm at the local Barnes and Noble picking up a copy of Rules of the Game, which by the way was located behind the counter since it seems that some folks like to steal the book.

Anyway, the male clerk, who was a bit geeky looking and I'm guessing was early 20s asks me, "Who are you getting this for?"

"Why?" I asked.

"I just wondered whether you're getting it for yourself." I hesitated before answering. Now mind you, I'm middle aged, so I'm wondering what the hell this guy is implying. It's like when I was a teen asking the pharmacist for a pack of condoms. Embarrassing.

Finally I said, "Yeah it's for me."

"I just asked cause if you're interested you should check out books on NLP. It's the basis for The Game."

"Yeah, I know a little bit about it," I responded.
"And then check out books on body language. Very important," he says.
"OK. So, have you read Neil Strauss' books?" I asked.
"No," he says.
"Why not?"
"Don't need it. I have game. I could write my own book if I wanted to."
"You're modest too," I said laughing. The guy quickly shares a couple of tips, which told me he did know what he was talking about.

Geez, what have I gotten myself into??

Interesting encounter. I think that many young guys overestimate their pua skills. But you never know. The guy could be genuinely good.
