I think that there are very, very few guys who will actually throw the fist punch. Therefore, if I get threatened, I don't take it seriously unless something tells me I really should. I just let the guy embarrass himself by yelling at me and threatening me while not actually doing shit.

That's usually a good time to venue-change your chicks. "Hey, let's get away from this douchebag."

If you're strictly talking about being alpha, then of coarse it is. But is it a smarter decision? Yea.
Depending on the situation, I never back away from a fight, it usually ends up just being all talk. But just in case, I got 6 years of weight training and mixed martial arts under my belt. But I try to avoid a real fight at all costs. You shouldn't be starting something with someone that would lead to a fight anyway.

A few good rules to follow that have NEVER failed me:

-Most of the time nothing will happen(it's not really a rule, but it helps to know)

-Always stay calm, cool and collected. You do dumb shit when you loose your head.

-Always keep the other guy a little further than arms length away...not because you're scared, because if he is serious about fighting then it gives you a buffer zone and just enough time to comprehend and react to any scenario. THUS, giving you a slight advantage!

-A branch off from the previous rule...never make the first move! not only will it give the event a chance to dwindle down, but people who make the first move in drastic situations(unless they are VERY well thought out) tend to be the ones who lose!

-And if worst comes to worst...keep your chin down aand hands up...

How do you keep backing up and shifting positions and not look like a bitch at the same time?

By keeping your legs positioned as though you're about to fight.

Putting up your fists invites him to punch you. But if you move around on your feet, circling him instead of backing away, not only do you look like know what you're doing, but you're making him keep his distance. Keep your hands ready, but down until it becomes apparent that violence is unavoidable.

That's one school of thought though. I actually prefer it when they get up in my face. People who don't know how to fight will do that then push you first. In my mind, that clicks a switch to go from defense to offence.

Let them throw first. And don't be afraid to cheat! In a REAL fight, there are no cheaters, only winners and losers, and in extreme cases, living and dead.

Having an actual throw-down is very bad juju, which is one reason why it's better to not fight. A lot of people will come looking for you after you've kicked their ass, and most likely, will bring something/someone to even the odds. (I've had an entire football team come after me once.)

Charlie0 pretty much nailed it...you don't have to literally back away, just make sure he's just out of his range that way if he does make a move he'll have to come to you. This gives you plenty of time to make any sort of counter to what he's doing or just lay him out with a nice hook or cross...it's pretty simple.

Commen sense would say you shouldn't try to egg him on either.

A little way to demonstrate an intimidating body posture is to draw your shoulders back and drop your head a little while circle or stand and wait.
Drawing your shoulders back also provides a little natural drawback for your arms too, so you can strike quick and lowering your head protects your neck along with making it harder to hit you on any 'buttons' you have on your face incase you're too slow to react initially.

I basically will not fight when I'm with a ladyfolk... call me a pussy, call me a bitch... your just not going to get me to fight you (there by potentially putting her in danger) unless you threaten her or put her in harms way somehow... then prepare to get the shit kicked out of you.

Fighting in general (when not for organized sport) is bad news, and I honestly have only been in a couple fights in the last several years... if you even want to call them that and it was always to defend someone who I felt needed me to protect them.

Generally good advice, apart form that, statistically speaking sucker punches/ pre-emtive strikes, and generally the person who takes the "attack dog" stance, tend to come out of fights better than those, who wait for the other guy or keep on the defensive.

My advice is if you are ABSOLOUTLY SURE that it's going to kick off and the other guy can't be pacified, then hit hard, fast, aggressively repeatedly and FIRST.

If you don't know what your doing in a fight, your chances of blocking and evading his attacks until help arrives are REALLY LOW.

TBH even if you know what your doing blocking and evading strikes for anything longer than the first 2-3 seconds is a bad plan.

Ultimately whether fighting is alpha or not is entirely contextual, tbh if someone offers you a fight "Come on, bring it!" you have every right to back down.

However is the violence is more in your face, say your friend is getting attacked, I personnaly would step in to help.

However most physical threats don't go anywhere, plus you can usually tell who will start shit and who wont just by looking at them.

Same,

I won't back down, there is no reason for me to fight and I won't fight in front of a lady either but in a certain situation if It were to happen, due to abilities from MMA I could stand and play with his hands if he lifts them.

However as said in Mystery Interviews, no women is worth your danger, If you need to get our of there, Just go!

And from a legal standpoint this is also a smart thing to do as more often than not cops will arrest/charge the guy that threw the first punch. As they see that as instigating the fight and so you will be seen as protecting or defending your self.

That may encourage a fight to happen as it can come off as you are looking for a fight, even tho you want to be ready if there is one.

Yup. Plus you do not know what tricks the other guy may have and if you beat him to the "punch" before he can get to his tricks. That may mean you get to see another day or at least walk away from the fight.

MOST GUYS WILL NOT THROW THE FIRST PUNCH.

All they can do is try to get you to think they will. If they scare you into preparing yourself for a fight, they've won the frame battle. Let them posture. Let them threaten. They might as well be on the far side of the moon for all the damage they're actually going to DO to you.

Your fear is one of their weapons. It's not the only one they've GOT, but it's the only one they're going to USE. And you get to decide whether or not it actually works.

IGNORE DEY ASS. Don't try to intimidate them back. That just demonstrates that you're taking them seriously. Which you shouldn't. They aren't going to do shit and you know it. So ACT like you know it.

A question to everyone in this thread: when is the last time you saw a hot-air exchange actually go to blows?

Fighting is alpha if you generally aren't an aggressive person and nobody expects you to fight. Of course the fight must look more or less good. If you generally don't get into fights and then surprise everyone by doing so you will be alpha because you show you can be both sides of coin. Also 95% people believe fighting is not the answer. Those 95% are afc's mostly. A real alpha doesn't give a crap about morals and does what he feels is best for situation. You wanna fight? GOOD! So do it.

An alpha is not afraid to fight for the lulz even though he could solve the problem with diplomacy. An alpha is not afraid to get beaten up.

As long as you aren't afraid of pain, it's all good.

When he comes closer, put your hand in his face, he will automatically retreat because people are protecting eyes. Tell him not to come closer before/after doing this. Srsly, this works. Try on anyone. As soon as you start putting your hand in someones face he will immediately pull his face back thus retreating.

Also, be one of those few guys who throw the first punch is the aforementioned tactic doesn't work. Seriously, fuck the morals and ethics of fight and everything. A true alpha doesn't give shit about ethics.

Nah. And even if yes, who cares. Okay, so they beat you up. So what, maybe lose a few teeth, so what...you can always sue.

AHHH! The most important thing - USE LEGS! Leg is taller than arm, thus while he is coming on you trying to hit your head, just kick him in torso, knees, wherever you can reach.

backing down from a physical fight isnt beta, IMO
as always, it depends how you take it
you know, if george clooney backs down from a fight probably its because he has a higher spirit than that and he's so alpha he doesnt need to proove/get his hands dirty, DHV
after all, people who pick up senseless fight are in general people with poor spirit, unenvolved and disturbed, you know, the kind that probably lives hell anyway

best move really is keeping your cool, let the guy make a fool of himself, act unintimidated, as the guys said, most of the times it ends up being nothing

"Don't poke on the shit, it'll only smell worse"

of course there may be the day you're with blood on your eyes and you may end up in a fight, or that it will be nescessary...
