I wondered if the following was a shit test....

I have been working a campus job with a girl this semester and one girl who I work with made a strange comment to me the other day. We do flirt at work a little bit but nothing very serious. The other day she was talking about her pay check and said that she doesn't pay taxes because pretty girls don't have to. I really just ignored the comment and kept the conversation going. However, she went right back to the point and stopped the conversation saying an IRS agent came to her house and told her that pretty girls don't pay taxes. I responded to that by saying the rule seemed fair but asked why she wouldn't have to pay taxes.

The fact she said this comment again after I dismissed it initially made me think it was a shit test. What do you guys think?

I would have said "Yeah! thats cool! I never pay taxes me too! i guess im pretty after all"

with humour, that should make her laugh. well it depends on the deliver. to answer correctly, you habe to keep a good frame, stay confident and change subject as if you don't care about what you answer or what she thinks.

dude what are you talking about? The original poster's response makes plenty of sense. Assuming he is not totally retarded (and he write well enough to assume that) then he did not genuinely ask her why she gets that , he must have meant that he sarcastically asked her "oh why do you get breaks then?". I think a sarcastic reply like this hits the bullseye ... she is shit testing him by paying herself compliments, and he's turning it around unphased and saying indirectly he doesn't see how she is pretty.

If the girl has even 1 ounce of sense of humour she'll crack up. If she's a really hot girl with lots of self-confidence, she'll also immediately get interested because the guy did not start playing to her tune of how beautiful she is but proceed by busting her balls. Cocky and Funny D'Angello style all the way to the bedroom. I see nothing wrong with it, actually I like it better than agreeing with her and saying you get tax breaks too.

It's more of an ioi than a shit test. Shit tests are suppose to be hostile, and make you prove yourself. This was definitely an ioi. This is how most girls flirt. They say something coy and wait for you to respond in kind. Girls don't make comments like that to men they aren't interested in. She wants you to flow with her. I agree with Makingithappen, you should have come back with something cocky/funny. like "Wow, I guess those IRS guys don't get out much then." or his response The most important part is to keep it fun and playful and never act like she has you.

she's stroking her own ego. it's more of a compliance test (and maybe even an IOI) than anything else.
she wants you to agree with her and say "yes dear, you are pretty..."

best reply, as someone mentioned above, "why do you get tax breaks then?"
it calls her out on her vanity, makes her feel slightly insecure and shows that you're not interested.
