I look over my shoulder, there, over the bridge, is AFC land.

I can still make out the details, I saw myself not getting a haircut for 6 months because I didn't know what to do with it, being on the receiving end of LJBF speech, and turning from a cocky bastard to an uncomfortable AFC as soon as I saw a pair of pretty eyes looking at me.

It's taken me since christmas to leave the bridge that seperated AFC land from PUA land, and it would take me a minute to walk back.

I'm not walking back.

My first night of real sarging.

I had a goal, a simple one: Be able to approach.

Meeting up with Zephr and Ace was everything I would have hoped for. These guys were further along than me, they were cool to me, pumped me up before approaches. After getting to know each other sufficiently, it took me only a few minutes to open my first ever proper set.

It was easier than I thought.

So on went the night, we went to a bar, then a club, and got invited "upstairs" for a birthday party.

I approached.... about 10-15 sets? I wouldn't say my AA is gone, and I don't think it ever will be, but I now know how to overcome it in the future.

So I guess I reached my goal then... yet all I can see is what I need to work on.

Sticking points

DHV, I think I was too absorbed in opening, I never thought of what should happen after it. So I just fluffed until there was no point carrying on any more. I need to internalise some DHV routines, or be able to stack openers, even if it means cutting my first opener short, I didn't do that tonight.

Ace and Zephr are awesome guys, and before I left, zephr said "I want to see you more alfa each time I see you". So much truth such a little sentence.

Goals:

short term - work on DHV routines, practice "the smile" while opening and negging, test peacocking, hitting hooking point

Medium term - keep working out at the gym, sort out inner issues of being Alfa,

Long term - better all aspects of my life, learn the mastery of self control.

I look forward to the forest that surrounds me in this strange PUA land. Scattered in this forest are challanges that will bring out the parts of me that I had never let loose, in other places I will find teachers, guides, like minded people, to help me along the journey. All the while, I would need to look out for black holes that are going to suck me in, if I do, I will never be able to leave, never be able to return to AFC land, as king.

It's going to be an interesting year

It was a pretty good evening in my book. Me and zephyr are still beginners by all standards, but I'm glad you picked some stuff up from us.

Smile on the approach Josh. Practice by always smiling :D. Search out the 'walking' thread here, some of the guys had great insights. It really tells you a lot about posture (you do slouch a bit...), and practice this stuff all the time. You'll see results soon enough.

I recommend Carlos Xuma's 'Secrets of the alpha male'.

Other than that, I'm very happy for you. You got out there, opened a bunch of sets, I don't think you got shot down once - well done!

We all gotta work on FALSE TIME CONSTRAINTS. That's one thing that's going into my little black book, I got into the bad habit of opening without FTCs. We all gotta remember to stick them in the openers.

Prepare some DHV stories for your wings to tell about you next time we go out. At least one, something that stacks nicely to your routines.

Other than that, well done guys, I'm looking forward to seeing more of you both in the field.

If either you or zephyr have any insights to share on my game, please let me know. We have to be critical of each other, it's the quickest way to learn.

Something I read:

It's better to approach by yourself, and have your wing join you 5-10 minutes later, once the set is udner control. Approaching 2/3 guys at a time shows a lack of confidence.

We should remember to do this too.
