Responding to compliments

Most of the time when I get compliments I just say thank you, once in a while I will respond with a compliment, but most of the time I feel like its an awkward thanks. So guys, what are some good ways to respond? I mostly get compliments on my eyes. Even when I am not trying to pick a girl up, I get compliments. It kind of bugs me actually, but I realize I cant get mad at people for being polite.
