I'm brand new and have been doing a lot of reading into these forums but the one concept I can't seem to wrap my mind around is the 'too cool for school' attitude. That is, while I understand how women can be attracted to men who don't shower them with attention and the mystery of a man is considered attractive, I see this as being counter to getting a woman's attention initially. How do you walk the fine line of showing interest in a HB but not showering them with attention to keep them interested in you? If you do it too much they'll be turned off and if you don't do it enough they wont notice you at all. Any suggestions or ideas?

The MM concepts are (in short) following:
When you go up, you better don't show interest.
The first time you show interest is when she gives you an IOI first.
For every IOI she sends, you may (may!!) send her one back.
Never compliment her on her looks. You may say her earrings are pretty, her dress is pretty, that she has good humour or is quite interesting.
Count to three IOI's and then ask for a kiss.

When new to the game I would advice not to go to direct.
When you go direct (Like this one from Keys to the vip: "shall we continue flirting from a distance or shall I introduce myself") chances are she will back off when you look like a creeper, or back off when your personality doesn't meet the confidence-level of the opener. You can use direct material, but make sure you're up for some serious testing.

But there's no one rule that's correct.
The base rule remains the same: What you say doesn't matter, it's how you say it.
