I'm debating whether to try to hook up with a girl at work. I mentioned her in a field report which was more about me horsing around than actually accomplishing anything. Brief reference aside, I don't want to know so much what to say or do, because I know what I'm doing. I've never tried to game a coworker because I normally believe that this is a bad idea that will at least have a rough emotional ending, if not a bad result for your professional life. This case has a couple of differences from that normal code though:

1. It would be ridiculously easy. Honestly, this girl is about as...let's say "easy going" as it gets. She has no problem talking about past boyfriends that come into the store, or even hookups, so I assume she will not become needy.

2. My boss doesn't really care. They literally poke fun at her and call her a gold digger and even tramp (granted, in good fun) because she takes advantage of her on-again-off again bf. This suggests that our personal lives are not an issue even if its found out.

3. This isn't my career choice. I'm just a cashier part time now as I look for a full time job following school. I don't plan on being here long at all as I find better opportunities. So the period of time where it could be an issue is rather small.

So that really takes care of the two overall problems I have with dating in the workplace, and fucking with a coworker too, really. Granted, there is always a small risk that something terrible happens and shit gets very bad very quickly. With the risk lower I am considering going for it, but I'm not against getting additional opinions. The main reason is that I'm waiting a little while anyways, she doesn't turn 21 for a couple more weeks. I hate dealing with women who can't legally drink in the US, it takes away so many options. Plus aside from bars there isn't too much to do in this little town late at night. Not exactly a cultural hotspot.

So thoughts, questions, criticisms, opinions?

Go for it.

Honestly, the last time I hooked up with a co-worker.. there was no gaming to it.. she was easy -_-.. stupid easy and "stupid".

She cheated on me with another co-worker and there was no fight or awkward moment, I dumped her and that was that. The dust settled and it was awkward for her but I kind of got over it real quick.

It's all your mentality I guess. Inner work relationships can be tricky depending on the people but I honestly say if she's as chill as you describe, go for it. What's the worst that happens? The SPAM at your Retail/Fast Food Cashier's job becomes awkward? Who cares.

Seriously though, I've worked shitty jobs.. and in my opinion having a girlfriend or even FWB there makes it less shitty. You won't be there forever, so might as well take advantage before someone else does or you find a better opportunity.
