Being sceptical is good (don't slander me for that it is, questioning ideas is good) but a true sceptic like me demands to be convinced with evidence, I have read some articles by psychologists who are sceptical, but i just wanna make sure that what i am about to throw money into is worth it, because there's a lot of bullshit out there. Can anyone convince me the whole PUA society is legit?
many thanks

No the 'society' is not legit. It is largely a bunch of marketing businessmen that have come up with ways to get nerdy, socially awkward guys to pay thousands of dollars for bootcamps and hundreds of dollars for DVDs that tell guys to make themselves look presentable and walk up to women and look them in the eye and talk to them.

Now, while the 'society' and most of the products on the maret are not legit, reading people's honest firsthand accounts of how they approached situations and delt with things is invaluable.

There is valuable information to be obtained here in website forums and in some inexpensive books.

Sure go ahead and order the Mystery Method or The Game/New Rules of the Game or some David Deangelo book or CD from Amazon for $20. There is some good info in those.

But don't shell out thousands on a bootcamp or multiple hundreds on a CD or DVD series.

I'll tell you exactly what they will teach you in a bootcamp or a $300 DVD set.

Are you ready........................................

Here it comes.........................................................

I'll save you a few thousand dollars just out of the goodness of my own heart........................................................................................

Get a life and do fun things with fun people.

Continually better yourself by doing things that will improve your mind, body and spirite.

Wash your hair, then comb it nice. Brush your teeth. put on some deordorant, put on some clean, pressed, stylish, well fitting clothes and clean stylish shoes.

Then walk up to and talk to women.

Then start incrementally flirting with them and introducing some romantic/sexual content into your conversations and start inclementally touching them.

Don't hide your sexual nature or let them or anyone else push you around.

Let nature take it's course.

THERE! You are now a PUA! Go forth and starting meeting and interacting with women!!!

It's your mentality itself that is not "legit", not PUA itself. I feel like you are under the impression that PU is some kind of magic pill, where you pop a couple and voila! you're suddenly good with women. If that is your mentality, you will fail and I can guarantee you will have wasted your money going to a bootcamp.

PU is not a magic pill. There is no bootcamp, book, or DVD that can suddenly make you good with women. Don't even think there is, and if any "guru" tells you otherwise, he or she is a liar. PU is a journey. It's a transformation of the person from the inside out. PU is the art of learning how to interact with women, develop social acuity, and building a healthy lifestyle. There are no tricks, no sleight of hand in PU. It is simply learning how life works. Bootcamps and books only show what is already in existence. You don't need to go to a bootcamp. It may help, but it cannot by itself make you into a pimp. The only way to learn PU is to actually go out and approach women. Not just a weekend with some "guru", but everyday by yourself. Malls, clubs, parks, bookstores, etc.

Ultimately it's a journey that you must take yourself. No one will do it for you. You may meet other people along with way, some who help you, some who challenge you. But it's your journey. If you're not willing to put in the time and effort, and it takes A LOT of time and efforts (months and years), you will fail. PU is not a product to be "bought". It's a lifestyle.

PU is not a science. You cannot possibly study this in a controlled environment. The best you can do is get other people's anecdotes on their experience. It is an art. There are principles and rules that generally hold in dealing with women, but each person undertakes a unique journey. In the end, it will work if you want it to, if you are willing to put in blood and sweat, willing to face your fears, willing to get back up after failure time and time again, willing to put every fibre of your being dedicated into changing your life.
