Not true. The stories I have heard of cults and cult leaders, they are usually small, close knit societies who are isolated from objective reality; and the leaders tend to resort to child abuse and rape. They by no means have a harem, but rather collections of brainwashed families, consisting of more children than adults.

1. Dress weird.

2. Take a generally accepted concept and rename the terms.

3. Suggest one could do amazing things if one applies such concepts. If one perso fails and everyone sees, say he didnt obey the concepts.

4. When trapped having to prove such concepts, talk about such concept to avoid humiliation and make up some new concepts to justify chickening out.

5. Final most important step: suck all the life and money out of your cult members.

Its pretty easy no rocket science. You will be a cult leader in no time.
