Cold reading is a technique where the reader uses clues given by another person's body language, clothing, gender, ethnicity, age, etc. to gather large amounts of information about the person without having prior knowledge of them.

Cold readers also make guesses that have a high probability of being right and pick up on signals from the person as to whether the guesses are right.
