Where are you guys taking these girls?
Seriously, paying is bad if you don't have enough comfort or are not making her work for you. If you are making her work for you, paying is totally legit. I always pay. Is not like I am paying for pussy. I am paying because I am a giving guy. Even when I roll with my guy friends, I argue with them to get the first round.
I'm a pretty generous person too, but that's not why these guys are doing this. They don't pay the entire bill, not to be cheap or to avoid feeling like they paid for pussy. They don't pay the bill, so that they don't fall into the normal dating mindset. If a girl feels like she is being courted and taken out on proper dates, she has presumptions about how she should act. Women have all kinds of rules and ideas about dating. If you split the bill, however, and keep the dates light and less proper, it breaks them out of the dating mindset and frees them to be less inhibited.
Also women are funny. If you give them only a little, they are content to be more interested in you. If you give them too much, they tend to push it to see how much more they can get, and then it becomes less about you and more about the date itself. You should never be in a provider mentality, where you are worried that if you don't provide a good enough date, that she won't be into you. Women should be interested in you, not where they can go because of you.
Also some women will not sleep with you if you buy everything, for a couple of reasons. First of all, you will seem like boyfriend material, and she will make you wait because she's scared that if she sleeps with you too soon, you won't want to date her seriously. Second of all, it makes it seem like you are trying too hard. Like you really really want to impress her, which causes two problems: she thinks you are really just trying to get in her pants by spending money, or she thinks you are really desperate and whipped and will do or spend anything to be with her. Either way, you will get the short end of the stick if you pay for everything.
That being said, paying is not a hard and fast rule. You should always use your own judgement. The best rule to follow is: Would you be paying for this if you weren't trying to sleep with her? If she was just somebody you just met and you were talking, but you weren't trying to pursue anything with her. What would you pay for? What would you split? What would be fair?
