A few months ago I went out with a housemate, but nothing happened because I didn't have the courage to make a move. Afterwards she started seeing another guy and I treated her in a rather cold way. Now the two of them broke up and I want to make a move. However, her behavior towards me has changed. Before she started seeing this guy she always complemented me. Now she constantly negs me. Like today we were talking about girls and she said "oh, you need to take whatever you can get. haha" , but she looked at me like she was joking. Also, a few days ago jokingly told me "oh, I hate you now." and she said "that's no suprise for him. he hears that from me all the time", but again she looked at me like signalling it was a joke. I don't know what this means. Are these indicators of interest or indicators of disinterest. How should I react to this.

Maybe she just thinks of you as a friend and it's just a bit of banter. Try give her a witty reply and turn it on her. If you're just taking it on the chin it's showing weakness.

Whenever you have a situation like this, I ALWAYS assume they're IOI's. And this definitely seems to be the case here. She's trying to flirt with you.

I'm not sure if it's really flirting or if she's just mad at me. Because she hardly talked to me during this party. I mean, maybe she is waiting for me to do something....

If a girl did that to me I hit her back with some major cockiness or smartass replies. As for one I can't let a girl get away with such things, and two a lot of times the girl is flirting. While she is interested in you or not is another thing but you have to play the field so to speak to see if she is interested in you or is just flirting.

Do something then. Sitting there with it being awkward isn't going to get you anywhere. If you don't try you'll never know.

Yeah, I definitely need to do something. I'm not really good at this, so pls help me in deciding how to proceed. She will probably be completely surprised if I suddenly show interest. Should I invite her for lunch or dinner and then try my best to rebuild the good connection we had in the past and then move further forward?

Those one-liners are too little to plan dinner dates on.

Maybe, she just is being friendly. Also, it never helps your case when you keep quiet when such are delivered. Just, wait for a more open sign before shooting yourself in the foot over nothing.
