You've made the right choice. SS is great for guys who otherwise won't get a fair chance to woo the women of their desires. I'm less than half your age and it's what I'm currently working on. I have little to brag about, but I have noticed substantial improvement in my character.
Listen to Ross when he says bars suck; they jam your communications and shorten people's attention spans. Unless you like working with an arm behind your back, I'd find a better place to work it.
