This type of thing always happens when I'm either in a rush or interested in talking to someone else. I know that I have my own agenda, and that's my priority, but I hate being an asshole by breaking them off early. Here's an example...
I noticed my college advisor's office was full of cameras and commented about it while leaving. He starts passionately talking about cameras, photography, and all that jazz, and I don't really mind as I've got some time to spare. Two and a half hours later and I finally break the conversation before he begins on another lecture.
I understand that's the purpose of adding time constraints to the conversation, but there are just some times when I forget to. Is there an easy/polite/fun way to break those conversations off early, or do I just need to be a dick and end things when it's necessary? How do y'all usually deal with those types of situations?

That includes working to other people's schedules.
You don't have to be rude to end a conversation. Definitely not a 2 hour conversation! 'Listen, I've got to go.' isn't going to hurt anybody's feelings. _________________
