I met this girl on facebook, but haven't met her in person yet. Today I asked her how she's been and she tells me she has a depression, although she's quite nice and fun during conversations. I'm guessing inquiring the reasons why she has it and encourage her to enjoy life is the wrong strategy and sounds like AFC, although I can think of several ways to DHV along the way. I think I'm better off with being cocky/funny, by saying something like "is it because you want to meet me very bad?" or "I'm cancelling the wedding, I don't want my kids to have such genes"(I proposed hypothetical wedding to tease her about her drawbacks that would serve for reasons for divorce). Any advice? Thanks

Yes, here is my advice:

Run as fucking far and as fucking fast as you can.

And NO, I am not kidding.

At this point, the girl in question is one of two things:

1. Genuinely suffers from depression (this is hell, you will never be happy)
2. An attention whore who likes to throw around words like depression (this is hell, you will never be happy)

Dude, it's a LOSE-LOSE situation.

BEEN THERE. DONE THAT.

You won't be the first, you won't be the last, sign on for that *shit* at your own peril and don't say I didn't warn you when it all goes to shit.

Thanks for the advice. And although I definitely know what you mean, what's wrong with gaming her for a one night stand? I mean she is hot as hell...

There is nothing wrong with that.

But DO NOT let it turn into a relationship.

It's a slippery slope, you guys will talk more and more, and then next thing you know ... you are her De Facto Boyfriend.

Don't go there.

LICKIT 'FORE YOU STICKIT
WHACKIT 'FORE YOU SMACKIT
THRILLIT 'FORE YOU DRILLIT

then get the hell outta there!

Tell her that massive doses of sex with you will raise her dopamine and serotonin levels, thereby ending her depression altogether.

Just kidding, I'm sure somebody will be along shortly with an actually helpful response. I'm no PUA. I'm just a dude with a knack for curmudgeonly truth and the sarcastic. :D

gonna join mack on this one:

run to the hills man.

Women with a depression are never really happy. One day they are happy the next they are a worthless sack of potatoes. If she takes meds youll be lucky if you get any sex at all.

and no you cannot cure them and they might be better for a short period but in the long run will fall back.

RUN

Then again she may just be on a bad mood or she said she's depressed to test me if I'm able to deal with the weaknesses people have and not judge her based on only her looks. Don't know, just thinking out loud. I really don't think she has chronic depression though

It's not the sort of test that you are thinking.

When a girl "tests" you (as you referred to), it should be something that DHV's herself.

Depression is NOT a DHV.

She is either depressed or an attention whore.

There is no alternative.

You've been warned.

I see you already got the very good advice "RUN FOR YOUR LIFE", which I was about to leave for you when I saw the title of the thread, but it definately won't harm to say it one more time.

I'd just ignore it, your "ideal" decision would be to just look for another girl, but if you really want to have sex with her then just ignore the issue and threat her like she'd be a normal girl. Spend time with her when she's in a good mood, and limit contact when she#s in a bad mood.

But a few things, don't get emotionally involved, so no relationship stuff, just sex.
And chances are good that you'd have to wait a longer period of time for sex, if it ever happens, because with girls like that it's a lot more complicated to build enough attraction, comfort, etc.

I wouldn't really want to ONS a girl that might then kill herself unless my conscience was cleared by being honest about my intentions.

That being said. Most girls I know are 'depressed' when it rains.

I'm gonna have to agree with all the responses by Mack here.

Depressed chicks are a no-go.

If you want an SNL and you're fine with the possible consequences - then go for it. Otherwise run away and stay away.
