So here is the deal, there's a nice chick on the bus that i would like to get to know.
Today we were sitting next to each other. so i figured 1-2-3 fire:
"Know a good dentist in town? " (I'm new in town and i do need a new dentist)
"Not really i go four cities away "
"Havent got any dentist friends? "
"No but I could ask someone "
" Yeah, that would be great "
=> smiles turns away and pops ipod back in.
any thoughts on what i did wrong here? Should I check up later (see her a few times per week on the bus to work) and any tips on how to turn it in to a real conversation?

But in these scenarios you typically only have 1 shot. You see her, you make a move, it works (or doesnt) and thats it.
You dont try to build rapport with a stranger on a bus over multiple sightings. That is creepy to the max.
If youve noticed her for x days or weeks, and finally a good situation comes up- like the one you wrote about- then now is the time to make the move.
The problem tho with this is that your mind is already all fucked up from seeing her and thinking " ohh i want to get to know her, i hope a good scenario comes up and i can talk to her". So when the time actually comes, you come off miscalibrated and incongruent as fuck.
Its not really about what you say, its just about your vibe and your demeanor. she must be attracted to your vibe.
