Why do girls play the "stalker/creep" card?

I'm sure we've all experienced this. A girl will send you flirty texts and pretend to be really excited to hang out only to cancel at the last minute. Then she tells her friends that she has a "stalker" that won't leave her alone (of course leaving out the part of her showing interest). It's like the Brett Favre-Jenn Sterger story where she claims that Brett was forcing himself on her only to find out they texted often and hung out on several occasions. I've heard this stuff from a lot of guys.

I sent a girl that gave me her # and added me on FB a blatantly obvious joke of a message and her response was "You creep me out". I "creep her out" yet she gave me her phone number and added me on FB? And if I do creep her out it's not as though she can't delete me (but she hasnt).

Is this just a validation thing with girls? Do they just like the power and attention of being able to tell their female friends such stories? Granted, some guys really are stalkers and creeps, but this card is obviously overplayed.

Take a man and remove two things (penis and integrity) and what do you have?

It's just a shit test. If she's still there talking to you, then she's still interested. Game on.

It's certainly true that it can be a shit test.

but you have to understand that many women ARE fucking terrified of being hurt by men, and for good reason.

There ARE things you can do that are creepy and stalky as fuck. Don't do them. Keep distance. Make gentle fun of her fears but reassure her at the same time.

The sad truth: A lot of times, stalky/creepy is what girls call behavior that comes from a guy they aren't all that into. Would it be stalky/creepy if Brad Pitt did it? Probably not. Brad Pitt could probably break into some woman's house who he didn't know, jump out from her closet and surprise her and it wouldn't be stalky/creepy.

But if YOU deliver flowers to a girl's work? Deal breaker.

Be persistent but be sensitive to what they want. Like he said, if she's still talking to you it's all good.
