Well assuming you'd game her to the point where if you were to invite her over, and she were comfortable with it, it should be a whole night...other wise its not worth a date.

let her decided that. Dont put in a timeline for it, If you are having fun just let it go for how everlong. she will be the one to put in a timeline. Now what you also can do to gauge her attraction or if she is digging you is . you can put in a false timeline for her for example

you:" hey look i cant be drinking long cause i got ..........."

but all in all, there shouldnt be a timeline

Turn the night from "quick drinks" into a whole night with you, bounce her from the original place to a few different locations that are fun for both of you. Your bringing her into your world so make it a night she isnt going to forget soon

Personally, I use, "drink dates," for one of two situations.

1: I don't know the girl too well; I'm uncertain how far I want to take it with her.
The drink date is ideal for this situation, because after feeling the girl out you can decide whether she is worth your time. If she is then you can extend the drink date to different venues, all of which make her more comfortable with you and eventually lead back to your place. If she is not, after one drink you have to head out and there is no further commitment for the evening.

Note: you do not want to have a drink date where you essentially are at one place, and basically get kicked out when it closes. Just from personal experience that never leads anywhere.

2: I know well enough the extent I want to take it with the girl.
There is no need to spend the entire evening with a girl you are certain is in the bag. Essentially, the drink date is just a way for you two to meet up before you head to her place.

NOTE: Some women are fully aware of how non-committal the drink date is and may refuse to go on one.
