The best compliments are of course the genuine ones, and those are the ones that any woman will value. However, I find it difficult sometime to be able to think of something that's not generic. For instance, I know never to say something like, "oh, your hair is nice"; instead, I say something like "Oh, I think how you've curled your hair looks very nice on you - must've took some time, but wow it sure paid off". Sometimes though, I just run out of ideas or cannot come up with something fast enough, and end up delivering pretty generic compliments/comments. Anyone have any tips on how I could train myself to be more receptive to things like this, or be how I could learn to improve my ability to come up with genuine, unique compliments?

Try this one in real life--you'll encounter it in the day but may also encounter it at a bar or lounge. If a woman is wearing glasses compliment her on her glasses.

There are a couple of angles why, but all are sure bets:

Here's the deal with glasses, which is different from hair or clothes. Typically, if a girl is wearing glasses it means something is going on with her contacts. In general, women do not want to walk around wearing glasses and feel self-conscious about it. So, when you complement her on her glasses it makes her feel a helk of a lot better about her appearance but in such a way that comes across as unique.

Another angle comes from a girl I dated long ago. She purposely wore glasses because she was really beautiful and no one took her seriously. She did not feel self-conscious about her intelligence but she did resent the fact it was often overlooked in favor of her appearance. For her wearing glasses was a way to indicate she was intelligent. So essentially complimenting her on her glasses is another way of indirectly complimenting her for her intelligence

You can tell the difference between the first situation and the second situation, by the glasses the girl chooses. A girl who is self-conscious about glasses will tend to wear the minimum in terms of glasses, so as not to call attention to it. A girl who wears glasses to come across as intelligent will pick more obvious and stylish glasses--the most common being a feminine pink rimmed glasses.
