I'm not necessarily asking for a how-to respond, but rather a how-do-you respond...just for curiosity's sake. It'd be a different response than one you'd give for a shit test, yes? I guess an example we could use is "Your hair looks shiny, is it a wig? Oh well it looks nice anyway"

Do you guys just normally roll with it (ie: "Yup. It was even on sale") or do have other methods you might use? Rolling with it might not work every time, right? I mean even if you take the neg as an IOI, your response to them matters.

I personally Neg back, If a girl gives you a Neg to start with that could be her way of flirting with you and testing you out, so a neg back is always the answer for me

Personally I'm a neg-a-holic. Though always very playfully, I find they help to make up conversations ie: Tonight I met a chick I had been playing game on a bit recently as a fun side project. My opener was a very simple neg

"Wow you look like shit?"

Normally I wouldn't with such a direct neg but the previous relationship allowed me to.

Her response " And you dear look like you just got shat out a chickens ass" *laughing*

Me: " Yerp, but that was one bloody good looking chicken."

I prefer when negged to turn them as a positive for me, as in my bloody good looking chicken response. But you can see her response was a good re-neg.

Re-negging or flipping a neg are my two faviorates you can also simply ignore it and switch up the conversation very rapidly I have seen this work before. Eg:

Her: "What's with the shoes? You look like an elf?"
Him: "Ha! You see that frog just superman of that post!?"

Though this can also fail so get ready to fall back on other methods.

Correct. You have to know when to take the neg or tease and not reply to it and when to know when to reply back to it.
