What is the best thing to do when friends ruin your game. I have charisma, good looks etc (so I've been told) but I have a feeling friends think I have a big ego which I don't think I do. They haven't told me but I'm picking this vibe up. I outshine them in social circumstances when we're out but when we're together it's like they team up to ignore me or not laugh at my joke. Is this out of jelousy? I have many talents, much much more than them, more intellectual/smart, workout, look after my image and clothes and they on the other hand are bland and I have been getting vibes of resentment from them lately. They will go out of their way to not listen when I speak even though I give them my full undivided attention when they speak.

Luckily I have many social circles or groups so I can move on from this particular one where I'm getting these vibes lately. I mean, it's only holding me down having friends with ill-wishes right?

Any ideas or similar stories?

Maybe they're right.

I would get rid of these friends.... you are correct it is feelings of jealousy, I get that a lot too cause I look sexy as hell haha. Rolling out in big groups of friends is a bad idea anyway...most girls look down on that. Try bringing one friend out with you...and if you get the same vibe give him the power stare and he will feel inferior.

Yeah...

In the real world, if a comedian tells a joke on stage and no one laughs... it's generally viewed that this is not the audiences fault.

Chances are with the O.P. he has a common syndrome here.

Step 1: Tell yourself you're charming and everyone loves you.
Step 2: Act like you think you're charming and everyone loves you.
Event 3: You find people don't laugh at your jokes/find you fun to be with/etc
Conclusion 4: Reject the obvious (you were wrong about yourself) and conjure a ridiculous line of belief that "everyone is jelous of just how awesome you are".

People like and laugh at the jokes, relax and have fun while around charming popular individuals. Walks like a duck....

What the O.P. needs to do is take this as a lesson in self awareness, and look to find out, "why don't people laugh at my jokes?" "why are my friends acting that way round me?"

Then adjust behaviour accordingly.

Thanks for the replies.

Fin, its just with this particular group and only lately. They are blatantly doing it on purpose. I am very popular and I am shining like the Sun with every other group I hang around with. I definetly see it as a jelousy thing. They are not successful people at all and I think I'm conjuring feelings of resentment from outshining them. Time to move on indeed!

If I told the same joke to anybody else from any other group of friends I hang with, they would laugh.

Why don't you just have a talk with them about the issue?

If that is tottaly the case, and nothing else is there, it may be time to move on then.

Maybe they felt like the audience you tried to surpass and made them feel like losers, so they ridiculed you for trying to break out. Did you include them in your conversations as "Hey, here are my cool friends" and try to pull the whole group with you? If not, then maybe you have a part in losing them as friends.

Otherwise, if they are really just being assholes about it, then they are really not that good friends. Time to make some new ones, especially if you have more fun with them. There is no point holding onto something that you don't enjoy, even if it's a group of friends.

I used to have a similar problem. Don't mean to offend you but it seems like you do have a bit of an ego. Mine got a bit out of control and my friends started to hate the way I was acting (macho, like i owned the place). I picked these vibes up and started to be more relaxed when we were out and actually paid attention to if I was being a dick to them or not. Your friends are your friends, they are worth keeping. It's not like if you tone down the way you act around them it'll sacrifice your game. I would also try and mention it when your with them. Just ask them. Hope that helps
