What 'Pick-Up' is really about

So, I was watching "The Pick-Up Artist" the other night, and they were all sitting around in the circle waiting for Mystery to give out the medallions. So, Mystery was asking the guys how they felt about the whole PUA thing and the impact that it had in their lives and, while agreeing with a guy that it was an eye-opening experience, he said something along the lines of "Its not really just about picking up girls".

What did he mean by that? What is Pick-Up really about?

I'm new to PUA too, but I would say anything that can make you more confident, self assured, comfortable around people (not just women), better your social interactions and depending on how far you go with it, more healthy, fit and active as well are some other benefits.
