i think you are on the right track if you come up with some "humorous" responses. because humor is a great way of showing four things:

- you aren't phased (because you aren't upset, and mad people don't joke)
- you are smart and witty (hence, a comeback)
- you aren't oblivious either (it's obvious she is taking a swipe at you and you show it)
- you are a nice person (needs no explanation)

some things that come to mind right off hand are:

- "cooome onnn! is that anyway to treat your long lost brother? hugs?? hug me???"
*arms outstretched toward her, giant sincere smile, then immediately redirect*

- "it is easy to get your fill of the *insert your name here*-Dog! but fear not, nobody has overdosed ... YET!"
*give her a seductive look, then immediately redirect*

- "i know! last night was amazing! it's ok, i told you, you'd see me again!"
* with a huge grin! *

whatever you come up with it needs to show a couple of things, that you aren't phased, that you aren't going to battle, and that you are in control

I'm guessing on the situation here, but It sounds like he picked a hot target in a group and went straight for her. He asked for it.

He should have gone straight for the mother hen, cock block, bitch, whatever you want to call her, and started chatting with her. If she rejects you in that context then she is just a cunt , so you either have to pick another set or try to catch the target alone.

Here is what happened to me once:

5 young girls, all far too young for me by my own opinion, but I was just playing around. One girl is absolutely bikini model smoking hot, in the middle of her group, surrounded by a wall of really average looking girls. I walked up, totally ignoring the hot one. Went straight for the short fat one on the left side. Chatted with her, got in between her and the hot girl, so my back is to the hot girl. After about 30 seconds the hot girl could not take it, she jumped up, in between me and other, right in my face, and started asking me my name, my car, all kinds of shit. The other girls were all cock blocks but they got vetoed by the alpha female, who was the target all along.

WTF? A man of wealth? Nature of my game? You sound very strange.

Anyway, "I love you too" is a great one, or "I love it when you talk dirty to me" for any insult with a nice smile is always great. However, you need to get your wing in there or make sure you turn her around, and/or really make your target invest in you, otherwise that cockblock will drag her away if she's already acting like that towards you.

Also, how and why are you reopening? If you bailed out of the set without ever really hooking after a few minutes because you ran out of shit to say, and then come back a while later and reopen, yeah, you're probably gonna meet with responses like that because you're not bringing any value to the table. If you leave to go speak to a friend as you were right in the middle of making them laugh and telling a story, then you probably won't get as cold a response as that when you come back later. Even if you're bailing, try and leave on a HIGH.

Anyway, on topic, I get this alot with some girls I know and I usually respond with an "I love you too" (it's very natural to reply like that, being sarcastic without being hurtful is good) or I just show them how friendly I am and how positive, it turns them right around every time.

As a general rule, I try not to bail. I usually stand my ground, even if I have nothing to say, until they ask me to leave 2-3 times or until they leave.

I would reopen a set to merge, or to ask a favor from a girl that was nice. (e.g. in the same night I reopened a set to get a slightly older woman to wing me into a new set.)

In this case, the interaction was going pretty well (as far as I could tell) but they ran off to see a friend (apparently it was her birthday or something). So I reopened later. I didn't use a line I just said something like "Hi Ladies!"
