So I got this idea today about a facebook group. I'm from a town in central PA that has the shitiest night life ever. There are bars and clubs that I can go to that are like an hour away but the bars in town are a lot more convienent. Every now and then the bars in town are poppin and a lot of fun but thats really only once a month. My idea is to make a facebook group and invite everyone that I meet at the bars, and all my friends and just hope that it expands. The idea for the group is to just get everyone to go to the same bar so that way there are more people which equals more fun.

I'm just looking for some feedback. I think its a good idea, maybe you'll disagree maybe you won't, but any feedback on how to make this work would be helpful.

I also think that being the director of this group (assumine it expands and works out as planned) will give me a great deal of social value, which is another plus to my plan. Negative feedback is welcome because I tend to only look at the positive side of ideas that I have.

Hey, decent idea, but it probably wont work due to you saying nightlife is crap to start with, unless you invite people to an event.

People flake a lot, and unless you get big crowds it wont work, and people wont return.

I wouldn't do it.

i think that's a great idea man, as long as you keep it casual [dont try too hard ect]. one way to angle it is to contact the bars in town and ask them if you can set up a night every couple weeks (bar owners are always happy to do this, they want big crowds of people coming to buy drinks for some strange reason), and they will hook you up with some kind of deal usually for your group (no cover, free bottles/vip, free booze tickets, ect), which, yes, gives you some decent social proof. if you can get the group to 100 people you can probably get started. since its a small town, 40 people heading out would be a good night out. its very easy to be very friendly with everyone when you're the one setting everything up. just remember to always act like its no big deal.

cheers
