This girl will text message me a lot, but when she starts conversations, she usually has little to say. I feel like I'm pulling teeth when trying to get her to talk. I tease her about it, and she always claims she's a big talker. Sometimes when I tease her, the jokes will go completely over her head. I do like this girl though and would like to eventually see her open up and be this big talker she claims to be.

Does anyone have any experience with opening up shy girls and having success? I tried searching for similar stories but it's a tough thing to search.

If she is shy, compliment her and make a comment just after or ask a question so she won't be able to deny it. Complimenting a shy girl makes her more comfortable around you.

Thanks, I haven't really tried complimenting her yet. The only thing I told her was something along the lines of pointing out how she puts "Lmao " before EVERY text message she sends and I said it was cute how she did that. She replied "hahahahahahahahaha " no words, nothing.

You have to talk to her in real life to see if she's actually shy. Stop trying to game her and focus on bs talk to make her comfortable. Just be like, "If you were having the time of your life one summer, where would you go?" She would say a place. Then YOU say what you know about that place but make sure it's something positive. A while after the bs talk, you can go back to gaming her. If what she says doesn't interest you, talk about what interests you instead. Only AFCs continue listening to girls when they're not interested and it comes off as fake and doesn't make anything interesting. When you talk about what interests you, don't make it about YOU. This means, don't talk about YOURSELF, talk about SOMETHING that interests you. But ask yourself if it's something worth being in Ripley's Believe it or Not or something you would fall asleep over.

Be interesting and fun. For example. If you compliment her and she says "aww that's so sweet" you can say something like, "It was just a taste for now."

I know a lot of the community is against having conversations through text, but if the girl is a bit shy wouldn't she be a bit awkward on the phone before I built some comfort? Also I'm a bit younger, texting is a main mode of convo for me.

For all you really know she could aswell be waiting around for you to do something together.

So why not assume that?
