So I've been working on how to open and so far I think I've pretty much got it down. New years seemed to be testament to that.
I think I introduced myself to about 30-40 people with about 8 people becoming solid anchors that I could walk back and chat to at any point.
The problem is I wasn't able to develop these interactions any further.
I used mainly improvised openers, or I simply started talking and my frame was usually strong enough for the people I introduced myself to, to accept it.
Thing is these interactions didn't develop further, after I meet them and talked to them for 30 mins to an hour or more we just became friends, I still not sure how to build tension.
I learned a lot from that night though, I think I undernegged one set, while I over negged another (they don't like it when you do that, worked that out myself). Forgot to use time constraints.
So my question is how do you transition from opening to mid game?
I'd say you move on by being yourself.
Start talking normally, about things that interest you, and would be a talking point for the other person. That will build comfort, then conversation will just flow.
