Hello. This is my first post.

Situation: I am a college senior. There is a sophomore I have been interested in. We knew eachmother from leading a freshman orientation trip before school started. I was not pursuing her at that time but there was some flirtation and a good deal of mutual interest as we talked for an entire 6 hour bus ride.

Recently I casually asked her to have lunch with me a couple times and they went well. I made her laugh pretty easily and she seemed very engaged and interested in the conversation, though I did not really do any escalation whatsoever.

This past weekend, a few days after a lunch get together, I called her on the phone to ask her to dinner, but it is finals week and she responded that she would let me know how her work was looking. The day came along with no word from her, so I asked her over text (probably a mistake) whether she could or not to which she replied she had too much work. I asked if Tuesday would be better with no reply. I then asked her over FB chat and she said she was swamped with work, to which I replied its ok I have a great night set up anyways I will eat a tub of ice cream while wearing my mother's wedding dress (not cocky funny but funny so I couldn't resist).

I guess I am not sure whether or not I should continue to pursue anything.

Reasons against would be:
-She does not seem very enthusiastic about the escalation that is symbolized by asking out to dinner and did not volunteer that she could not go until asked by me.
-I have probably appeared a bit needy by having to ask her
-On one occasion I was going to ask her in person and chickened out which may or may not have been apparent

Reasons for:
-We have had a decently good flirty rapport during our lunch meetings
-She may just be genuinely unable to think about anything other than schoolwork since it is finals week

What should I do? The winter break is coming very soon.
