There is nothing serious yet, but i also wouldnt call it a friendship, ive only been out with this chick once, and to a museum, so there was only basic kino as i was just getting to know her, other than that the other times i have seen her has been in two classes, so i dont really know her for more than a few days...
Should i get her a gift, or would that be supplicative behavior? If I do get her a gift, what should i get? Isnt my presence alone a gift enough, or does that make me come across as a stingy asshole?

if she invited you to her bday, the polite thing to do is at least give her something. that is not supplicative behaviour. i am not going into the behaviour shit here, just go to the party and bring her something at least. What should you bring her... well, if you dont know, you can always give her some kind of gift voucher, you know, a prepaid card for a certain amount of money in...underwear (you know what i mean, bra's, panties etc), jewelry, cd's, movies... that kind of stuff.
its always nice to receive something like that.
