You, probably just like me, are starting from the very VERY beginning. There are steps you have to master, and you cannot progress to step 2 until you have MASTERED step 1. You also cannot pick-up anyone until you get to step 5 or something... I'm making this up btw.
So from what I can tell, you are having trouble with your first step, as you seem incapable of saying "Hi!" properly. Your goal is to master step 1, not picking up, which is like step 5. The first few steps are dead simple because they require exposure, more than skill. Meaning further down the line, skill and planning will play a much larger role. At the beginning your just looking to talk to as many women as possible, because it is pure exposure which will fix your current problem.
After a few sets, if you feel more confident, you can start by setting simple goals, like making her smile, complimenting her and making her feel better in some way. Think of it as doing good, it doesn't have to lead to anything, its just a stranger saying the right things to brighten her day a little.
Studying NLP and psychology, definitely not claiming to be an expert. However, I am inclined to point out one well proven fact... We are what we repeatedly do, say and think. And we all have complete control on a conscious level, of all of those parts. You can do things like, when something bad happens to you, you FORCE yourself to find at minimum 1 positive thing about what happened. Then you say it a few times or as much as necessary for you to feel better/positive about the situation. If you are by nature a negative person, or a critical person, it can take time, but eventually it will become a habit to think positively and one day you won't even think about doing it.
