Ok i have heard this phrase so many times from my Ma now and numerous times i have made it clear to her that i don't want one because theirs so much choice and too many clubs in university, still she continues to say it. Can someone in the pick up artist community tell me why it pains me every time i hear this phrase? I think my Ma is reflecting her desires onto me and i DON'T want a girlfriend there is way too much choice. So why does she still persist in asking me?

It kinda makes me feel inadequate even though i am popular with the girls :(

Maybe try smiling, saying something like "good things come to those who wait", then give her a big hug. Hopefully, she gets happy that her little boy is becoming a wise man.

Done that but she's too invasive i honestly hate her! I just want to have experiences with different girls not the same one! She must think im gay or something or she's just invasive or she just wants the status so she can tell her mates.

Well, just to be annoying. Why does it hurt if you know that you are popular? Isnt that just you being sensitive because you feel that you might not be popular enough?

Anyways, it is your life right. YOUR life! You ma only does what she thinks is right for you and doesnt realize that she hurts your feelings. BUT you are the only one who has the right to care about YOUR lovelife!

So try not to care, or bring home some kind of girl that your mother really dislikes, bring em all home! See if that shuts her up!

I get annoyed so much because she's the type of woman to tell all her friends and brag or talk about the relationship. I feel i disappointed her every time i tell her i don't have one even when i said a girl was into me she wasn't bothered, I kind of feel "Oh, i don't have a girlfriend, she doesn't love me". Worst thing is i can tell by the tone in her voice what she's feeling ...

ok its really easy, just say 'ma you dont need to ask me that every time you see me, i've got loads of mates and girls i go out with all the time, like sarah, kelly, rachel (just reel some random names off at this point) i just dont think i should be settling down with any one special yet , do you? plus i really want to concentrate on my studies, cos that's whats really important right now isnt it" (she will be forced to agree with you at this point)

i think that it bothers you so much because since you were a little kid your mum has been able to get you to do stuff by making you feel that you had 'disappointed' her, this is how she got you to do your homework and tidy your room, never mind her 'disappointed tone of voice' she probably even has a 'disappointed face' ...? my sons tell me that saying to them that i am 'disappointed in them' is the worst thing i can say...haha...that was useful to discover i can certainly tell you...(dont tell anyone else i am old enuf to have teenage sons btw)

look, mothers are embarassing and a pain and get on your nerves (its part of the job description) - i know this - but i promise your ma doesnt love you less cos you dont have a gf yet, prob when she was your age things were a bit different, girls and guys didnt hang out 'as friends/mates' quite the same way as they do now and having one special boyfriend or gf was a much bigger deal back then than it is now. (i wonder when she was your age was she at uni, did she have a bf and if so what happened and how did her parents behave at the time? if you dont know, ask her next time she asks you..)

let her know you are very happy at uni, and you have lots of mates of both sexes, and remind her not to say it every time she does it, and retrain your mind not to respond the way she made you do your whole life so far, just think a different thought , change the subject, smile and dont let her press your buttons.
