Just joined the forum, obviousely. What is this reputation system that is beside every name and how does it work?

Fellow forum members vote you up or down based on the advice you give. You also accumulate points for hanging around the forum a long time and reading a lot of posts, in addition to the .01 point everybody gets every time they post.

The important number isn't the actual reputation in most cases, but the number of votes a person has and whether they were positive or negative. In order to find that out, you can click the "votes" link and a separate window will open with details.
