| I've changed a lot over the years. I've learned a lot. I've experienced a lot. I've had weeks straight where I've had a headache because I was pissed off. I would drive in traffic and yell at everyone. I would want to fight everyone. I would constantly think about what everyone else was doing.
The main thing that made me unhappy in life was:
I was constantly focused on what everyone else was doing, and how I could do it better.
I mean every damn thing. I would go to the gym and see some guy twice my age playing basketball, and I would want to go challenge him 1on1. I would want to be the best at everything, instead of the things that really mattered.
Instead of having 3 goals, I had 50. That directly lead to zero progress on all of them. It was egotistical to want to be the best at everything. Could I develop better software than Bill Gates? I don't know, maybe. But it would force me to drop everything I'm doing to pursue a goal that doesn't matter to me. Could I hit golf balls every day for a year and break par? Yeah, probably. But all that's going to do is help me kick my friends asses a little more every time we golf. Could I spend time working on "hired guns"? Yeah, but that's pointless.
I would think of how much of a piece of shit this guy was, or that guy. I would spend my time calling people frauds and running my mouth, instead of focusing on what really mattered.
I see this a lot with guys in pickup. There is a lot of time wasted on things that just don't matter, things that really aren't going to come up. I think it's the same when a guys goal is 1 night stands. You get great at something that, even if you are VERY GOOD AT, still doesn't happen that often. It's a lot easier to have 3-4 really cool chicks to hang/sleep with/date etc.
So why do we go about it the wrong way? I think most guys don't set goals. But even a lot of guys who do don't complete them, because pointlessness overtakes what actually matters. If your goal IS to have 3-4 quality girls, (From my experience that's what most guys want), then why are we not dedicating ourselves to that full time?
If our goal is to make more money, why are we not dedicating ourselves to that full time?
If our goal is to get in better shape, be a cooler guy, why are we not dedicating ourselves to that full time?
Goals are great. But if you want to get anywhere with anything, you have to cut out all the fat and bullshit, and really go for what you want.
In a nutshell, the only competition you have is yourself. It doesn't matter what the guy next to you is doing. Fuck it, and fuck him. Always stay on track with what you want and never second guess yourself. You only live once. _________________ www.TheRexStyle.com
