Direct approaches in college

So I've always been a fan of well done direct day approaches, but I'm worried about doing them in my college setting for fear of developing a bad rep from it. Has anyone had success with "hi, you're so cute and I'd be kicking myself all day if I didn't say hi" type approaches? On a related note, anyone had success with shock and awe type stuff at college parties?

Do not go direct in college unless you got a mad skills already and your rep is at the freaking top. Otherwise, yes, if you get rejected over and over - people will know about it.
