| I was seeing a girl- Annie- for 4 months. We had a really good first couple of months before she left for an overseas trip for 4 weeks. By the time she returned a series of horrible miscommunications and misunderstandings lead her to LJBFing me and me not accepting that and leaving.
But only 1 week and a half of no contact, we began texting back and forth again.
Yesterday Annie texted me and asked if I was going to a college journalism talk. I told her I was going and asked her whether she was. ‘Of course’ she replies.
When I got there, she’s there with a new guy...
I’m thinking ‘hmm. This seems pre-planned. Like she made sure I was going to be here and brought this new kid along.’
Luckily, I’m there with a new girl I’ve been seeing. Since Annie LJBFed me, I tried to get over her by seeing 2 other girls and I had just finished having lunch with one of them and she volunteered to accompany me to a boring journalism careers talk which had nothing to do with her degree (IOI, I'd say, but another story)
It got awkward. I called out Annie and she came over to us, but then noticed new girl sitting next to me. So she gave me an awkward ‘hi’ and then sat in the row in front of me, promptly ignored us, and began chatting to her new guy. I was having fun with my friend and didn’t pay her any attention.
After 2hours, the lecture ends and the first thing Annie does, is turn around and ask me if I was going to our class together. I said ‘yeh sure, but I’m going to get me a coffee first. You and your friend should come along.’
She seemed really awkward, as if she didnt’ quite know what to do. She discusses something with her new guy. She’s standing around talking to her new guy, while I’m about a metre away talking to new girl.
Finally she calls across the weird space between us–‘no I don’t want to be late to class. I’ll see you in the lecture.’
I ended up grabbing a coffee with new girl, then heading to class by myself, 30 mins late. Sit down next to Annie in the lecture and at first she seems cold. But then after a little conversation and push pull, I get her messing with my laptop and talking like nothing weird happened between us.
When class ended, we had a 10min walk to the trams. The intimate kino we had was gone of course, but I noticed our arms brushed as we walked, and the vibe we had was still there- hard to explain. Neither of us mentioned the drama from our last night together.

Was the guy she brought along some way of telling me that she was moving on and that we should really just stay friends.
Or was she somehow trying to weave a clumsy jealousy plot line with this new guy?
