Much of the PUA stuff I read always talks about "In the field" and all that, now I can understand how important this is, save for the fact that damn near all of it is always aimed at bars and clubs and other typical socializing outgoing doohickys

However, this is NOT what I'm looking for. I'm not the kind of AFC that goes to a bar only to stand in a corner, too scared to make a move or anything.
The thing is, I hate going out with a burning passion. I'm an introvert and social interaction is usually just plain tiring to me and sometimes also very irritating.

I tried going out once or twice when a few of my buddies finally dragged me along. But all I see is people around my general age ( 18 ) Doing just about everything I despise (Smoking, Drinking and other stupid stuff). I'm straight edge myself.

I really don't know what to do with this, most people (Guys and girls) around my age are already unable to live without alcohol, You should see people reactions when I tell them I'm straight edge, they go all: "WOW, really?! Respect to you! I would never be able to do that!"
I know people generally mean no harm with these comments but the blatant ignorance behind it just makes me want to rip my hair out. How the hell is it so difficult?

stop acting like being 'straight edge' makes you superior. You're just like those vegetarians that flaunt it like its a big deal, its not.

I'm 'straight edge' though i dislike the term, but its just a personal choice, people can smoke and drink around me and i don't give a fuck.

The reason you're not having fun at clubs is because you're choosing not to.

it's kind of hard to practice pickup if you aren't a fan of social interaction. I drink, sometimes to excess, but my degree at least suggests that Im not a complete idiot. I'm entering graduate school for an MBA next week, so the university's admissions department didn't think I was an ignorant waste.

I did use to be like you, though. A lot of people in my hometown who went out also happened to be complete morons. Here's the thing, it's just a coincidence. You don't have to drink or anything and 90% of people will accept it. But if you look down on anyone who does, well nobody likes a judgemental anti-alcohol zealot. And that arrogance will actually harm your game, because most girls you meet will drink, or smoke, I mean something. You can't put that whole culture a step down from society.

So honestly, unfortunately, you have to get over it. Don't drink, thats fine, but respect the decisions of others to do so.

There's nothing wrong with being straight-edge. However, most people between 16 and 25 are not. They love their liquor. They love their beer. They love to get fucked up. Its a bonding thing. The fact that you are not drinking, and have made a personal choice that you are above drinking (lets face it, that's what straight edge is), makes them nervous. You are an outsider. You are actively disengaged from the life-blood that flows through their social life. This is not good.

I encourage you to hold a drink in your hand. Get a ginger-ale in a tumbler. Just hold it there, cut out the mentions of straight edge, and see if you don't notice a marked difference in your game. *

* have a great friend (now the best PUA I know) who was edge. He was totally disconnected from women and the social scene. Held a coke in his hand and bam, girls flocked.

i agree with Zephyrine a lot of young people need alcohol when they go to bars or nightclubs because it makes them more social, problem is if youre going to bars theres alcohol you'll have to deal with it, it doesnt mean you have to drink alcohol. get a coke or orange juice!
