So i know complementing a girl can be seen as doing what every other guy does... which it is, but what about a corny complement that clearly isnt in a completely serious tone, like you mean what you say, but that its something you say to get there attention more then to actually boost there confidence.... for example this text convo

Octave:hey whats going on

HB: not much hbu

Octave: not to much, im cleaning up my house from a party last night which is boring so i figured id scroll down my phonebook and text the prettiest girl in it :-p

is a complement like that a bad idea that could cause a girl to lose interest?

That one is very close to good. See, I understand you put the tongue out face at the end, but because you put SO much writing before that (investing in the convo, when she didn't: "not much hbu"), it makes it seem like you meant the compliment. What you're going for in your description is called Tongue in Cheek Romanticism - where you say something overly nice, with a laugh or tongue out face at the end. For example:

You: Neg
Her: Crosses arms
You: Big hug & "Awww, baby, you know you're the only girl for me!" With a smile and a laugh at the end.

These make the girl feel like she's in a romance movie, without making her feel like you're a pussy (not calling you a pussy haha).

Woahh, let me explain to you a few things about compliments, mate.

Compliments all depend on how/why you're saying them.

If you're saying a compliment because you want something from it, then you are doing it completely wrong. Any of the following class as wanting something from it...

- Wanting her to like you
- Wanting her to do something, or compliment you back
- Expecting a 'favourable' response.

The last one if most interesting... you have to stop doing things and desiring any kind of response. Mainly for yourself, because of the disapointment and percieved failure at getting a different response.

I compliment girls, I do it purely as an expression of my self. I have no other desire from it. Because of this, it makes them feel good, it's a totally unselfish compliment.

This is actually pretty cool. I do shit like that too. The reason it works is because they know (hopefully) that you are taking the piss a little, and that you probably say it to other girls. That is probably the best thing to play off, and they still feel happy about it 'cause they still got a kinda compliment.

This is the time it would be right to use the example that Pixieboy gives...

If she responds with...

Chick: I bet you say that to all the girls...

You: Awww, baby, you know you're the only girl for me! ---Said VERY mockingly/tongue in cheek.

OR

You: I do, but with you I really mean it! ---Again, cheeky smile, tongue in cheek etc.


This works because it hits so many things at once,

- Handles their 'shit test'
- Teases them (by mocking the 'shit test')
- Gives them a small sense of it being true / feeling special

I did this stuff way before I saw Gambler advocating it. (Which makes me a little suspicious that he's been watching me), so I know how it works, why it works, and how to use it effectively.

haha yea finesse that breakdown really did help me understand a lot of how i should do things like this..... unfortunately when i did text her this i got no response whatsoever....... and im sure she saw it haha but honestly i am not a guy to get all pissy over one girl haha theres to many others to spend time bitching about "the one who didnt respond" All i can say is was it dumb to say this considering i didnt really no her well? Is this something i should have kept for someone i talk to very often instead of a girl i am aquantances with?
