What is a cold approach?

I have this friend that i'm really close with and everyone thinks theres somethin between us, i have had some thought that she does and doesn't, kinda weird lol. Now the other day my friend said do u like him she says 'only as a friend, and i know that the feeling is mutual'. Does this mean she thinks i don't like her and that she's into me?
