Was debating with a friend last night about who has the best "rule".

He tends to hand out his number to anyone he is attracted to, after trying to build attraction. C+F, Kino etc (we have the same kinda pickup style)

I tend to give girls excuses to give me their number or ask in a "hey, had fun tonight, *give me the means to get a hold of you cos I like your company*" kinda way.

He decided that the way I go about it was shit and didnt offer any argument as to why. (we were a bit drunk at the time)
I said that my "rule" was the better one because it filters out more "time wasters" and she's more likely to be interested / attracted if she's giving her number to you.
And I also think I come across as less needy / pushy with my approach to it.

Any thoughts on this? I can see flaws in both approaches.
How would you guys go about it?

Im interested to know how often those girls actually call your friend back. As a normal rule of thumb for alot of guys they dont waste time with giving their numbers because girls just tend to flake them out and never really pursue them. Exchanging numbers is the best way because, for me personally, if I just gave someones number without getting theirs in return it comes across as creepy. Offer yours in return as a show of good faith.

For the argument between you and your friend, I believe your method is the most widely accepted method as far as numbers go just for the flake rate of girls when you give them your number only.

Totally irrelevant...numbers SUCK! I have soooo many numbers of girls that never went anywhere but it was a temporary boost of confidence. It's rough to have consistency with constant number closes that turn into lays.

They do tend to text him back for a little while, but I dont think hes gotten further than a bit of C+F banter with any of them (via text) - as far as i know.

I would go as far as to say that he makes a lot of friends this way, but meets very little potential partners or girls that consider him a potential partner.

It just clicked what you meant by exchange of numbers! lol im dumb! Usually, immediatly after they give me theirs, I call the number, let it ring for 1 sec then hang up (in their presence so they see me do it). Then I tell them they've got mine.

Ask for number plus a cool reaosn for why she sgiving it to you

For me its situational. As it really depends on what is going on at the time when I am talking to the girl.
